Designer Spot Light: Cara Tonkin
Posted on October 19 2015
Introducing Brighton's very own, Cara Tonkin. Her style is elegant, bold and the versatility of her pieces are hugely appealing. Her collections combines the contemporary with bygone eras such as Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Working in oxidised silver and gold vermeil, what makes Cara’s work stand out is it's tangible movement, the way that the interlocking fragments of metal come alive when worn. Her pieces are both aimed to be collectable with huge statement necklaces and sculptural rings, but she is careful to cater towards affordable too, with prices starting at £35 for Silver Studs.
Cara is the daughter of two working artists, some would say her path was inevitable! The illustrious Central St Martins is where she achieved a First Class Honours in Jewellery design and soon after graduation she returned to Brighton to establish her studio.
Cara's reputation has not gone unnoticed and her work is now stocked in the V&A, amongst other high profile galleries. She's currently one of our handpicked Guest Designers and her work is proving popular! Come over and see for yourself...
